I entered into a trading business in 1987 after my father’s demise. I continued this business and in 2000 I managed to expand our footwear retail store to 5 stories. This is the largest footwear showroom in Sri Lanka and it consists of a variety of shoes and other accessories fit for the whole family sourced from local suppliers.
Through this experience obtained and through the encouraging industrial situation within the country, in 2007, I started a manufacturing business pertaining to soles. Initially, we manufactured footwear outsoles, PVC and handmade soles (catered to the niche market). Due to the successes obtained, we expanded into the manufacturing of complete shoes in 2014. Currently, we are supplying gents formal footwear to Bata Shoe Company of Ceylon Ltd and our soles are supplied to manufacturers island wide. We use high tech machinery to manufacture the products to the appropriate quality levels, which has enabled to satisfy our customer base.
As the pioneers in manufacturing Resin Rubber soles in Sri Lanka, the manufacturing process is being continued using new machinery and techniques like buffing, trimming, embossing and carving to supply high quality, fashionable shoe soles to the Sri Lankan footwear market. The competitive pricing structure, brand loyalty, modern facilities and the strong distribution channel enables us to obtain successes within the market.
These are some of the awards achieved by the company for the services rendered to the footwear industry.

Nandalal
Lekamge
Secretary
Nandalal Lekamge is a seasoned professional and an Intrapreneur with a background in engineering. He embarked on a journey to apply his expertise, only to find no suitable opportunities in his homeland. For the past 14 years, he ventured into the Middle East, where he served as a head of projects for a conglomerate comprising 19 companies. His portfolio includes overseeing international projects within his scope such as the world's largest Metro project and the third-largest movable sea desalination plant. At the age of 46, he chose to retire and return to the motherland. Despite initially resisting, he eventually joined the Industrial Development Board, serving for four years and transforming the mindset of the office hierarchy from assistants to top officials.
His tenure with the Industrial Development Board was characterized by a commitment to finding solutions and executing industrial projects. Despite facing resistance, he revamped the IDB Exhibition, turning it into a thriving national event in 2022. His vision, though initially misunderstood, brought about significant changes. Establishing the Boiler Board in Sri Lanka, achieved through an approved cabinet paper that he framed, was a monumental milestone. The major projects he spearheaded led to success and benefited homegrown industrialists and project staff, a feat unheard of in government sectors. His experiences span numerous successful initiatives, challenging the conventional norms of bureaucratic setups.
In envisioning the future of the Ceylon Federation of MSME, he sees a beacon of hope for struggling businesses. Currently, our MSMEs stand at a crossroads, their questions met with more questions from the authorities designated to assist them. The Federation, in his vision, should be a solution-driven haven, working tirelessly towards a visionary plan. It should not only provide answers but also ensure control and monitoring until success is achieved, even in the smallest tasks. While we may not be the ones executing the plans, we strategize for others to work on our behalf, contributing to the growth and success of the entire MSME community. Nandalal, a diplomate in Journalism at the University of Colombo, drives the Federation as the Secretary.
